Find out why NOT being the smartest person in the room is a good thing!
Are you always the smartest person in the room? Do you ever pretend to be smarter than you really are?
These may seem like odd questions, because really, we are all smart in our own way. Each of us has unique gifts and talents to share with the world and we all deserve to feel great!
What I’m actually talking about is that when we stay in our comfort zone, always being the one to provide the advice and being the “smartest” person in the room will prevent you from growing and being challenged. We have to step out of our comfort zone to grow, we all know that. And sometimes that means you have to actually ask some questions of yourself and others to get the best lessons.
Believe it or not, you can do this with integrity and you don’t have to appear dumb or unknowledgeable.
Putting yourself in a room full of people who are more successful than you, or know more about a certain topic, can help elevate you and inspire you become more than you expected.
It may be intimidating to walk into a room of people who are way ahead of you, but it’s worth it! I love immersing myself with a group of people that I can learn from. People who can push me, challenge me and inspire me all at the same time.
On my journey to creating financial wealth and businesses success, I asked a lot of people a lot of questions! I was fortunate to have a father to call on as I grew my business (he had several successful businesses), which was helpful. However, I didn’t limit my resources to just him.
I took people out for coffee to ask them how they built their business and wealth, I took courses, read books, I got coaching and mentoring, I researched and found a great financial advisor, and I asked myself some hard questions. I asked things like, “Why do I really want this?”, “What am I willing to do to be successful?”, “Is it worth it?”. The answer to the last question is a resounding YES!
Getting uncomfortable gets easier and the sooner you understand this the better. Plus it will bring you tons of personal fulfillment and joy as you see and feel yourself growing. I still take new courses and continue to expand my knowledge all the time. And I ask for advice from those who have gone ahead of me. It’s simple and powerful.
The truth is that we can learn something from everyone and when we’re open to learning, that’s exactly what happens. Chances are you have something to give too. I have had it happen time and time again where I thought I was the only one who had something to learn from the “smarter” people, and the next thing I knew, I was being asked for advice and I had an opportunity to reciprocate and share my wealth of knowledge.
As you gain more knowledge, insight and resources, you too will be able to help others and you can be someone else’s inspiration – just like your mentors were your inspiration.
Now, I want to hear from you. When was the last time you stepped outside your comfort zone and asked someone “smarter” than you for advice? What is your next step and who are you going to reach out to?
Please share your thoughts below and share this with your friends and family (you can “like” it with the tabs below). Share the love!
Most importantly, remember to keep believing in yourself. You deserve the life and business of your dreams.
Now, go out and get it!

I have tried networking events before, but I am so painfully shy when I am out of the restaurant.
After my health issue this summer, I have decided put myself first. Which means I have put Creole Envie up for sale, and only serving dinner until sold. This decision was not easy, but I am less stressed out now.
I hope everything is well with you and the mister.
Hey Danielle!
Congratulations on making the tough decision. You have to do what is right for you and your life. You have created a great business and you should be proud of that!
As for networking, remember, it’s not about meeting tons of people, it’s about meeting the right people. In other words, people you click with and enjoy. Those are the people who you can impact and who will make a difference in your life too!
Keep on keeping on Girl!
