When $#!& hits the fan

You know what I mean. When you look around and wonder what the —– is going on.

There’s that feeling when you’re on the edge and don’t have much more to give. Your patience for the BS is wearing thin….

Here’s the rub. The stuff you don’t like, the things that life is putting in front of you, are gifts. Yes, that’s what I said, they’re a gift.

They are a reminder to take the opportunity to re-evaluate. A time to get still and reflect.

When the busyness of life it pushing you to the limits, this is when it’s most important to slow things down. Yes, it often all feels urgent. But really it’s not.

Take a breath. Then another. Then another. Until you can think clearly. So you can RESPOND to what’s happening rather than react.

Reacting is that natural immediate emotional response to the stressor or trigger. We all do it. The trick is to realize this is what’s happening and then CHOOSE how you want to respond.

This gives you a chance to be in the moment as your best self. You may still feel stressed/overwhelmed/unsure/mad/sad (insert the emotion for yourself), but you always have a choice in how you deal with – and respond to – what’s in front of you.

The solution is about honouring yourself and maintaining your self worth. People will do all sort of things which have nothing to do with you. Even if you’re caught in the crossfire. It’s their stuff. Not yours.

Your work is to be in integrity and do what’s right for you. Maybe it’s mending fences with another person, or making a decision that supports your health, your business, your family or your emotional well being.

Take time for you. Even if it’s just 5 minutes to step away. Break things down into smaller chunks and then, take one little step at a time.

You know what’s right. Deep down in the depths of your soul. In your being. Your mind, body and spirit are telling you what you need to do. You just need to be still enough to hear it. THEN YOU NEED TO HONOUR IT.

This doesn’t mean you need to change everything in one day. It’s the beginning of moving in the direction you want to go.

It’s igniting that flame inside you. That knowing.

Remember – that $#!& happens for a reason. Whether it’s a catalyst for personal growth and learning how to face challenges, or it’s helping create a spark for something new. You just need to take the time to find – and – face the truth.

So…breathe…baby…breathe.

You’ve totally got this. You’ll figure it out and navigate the best you can. That’s all you can do.

Just remember that some things take time to evolve and change. Be patient. Follow your gut and be true to yourself.

Did I mention to breathe? Oh, yes, I did. And it needs to be said again. BREATHE.

Things are always working out for you, even if you don’t know the end game. It’s about trust. Trusting in yourself. Trusting in life and that it will all work out.

You’re valuable. You deserve the life you want. You know what you need to do. You just have to go create it.

Keep believing in yourself. You have what it takes to handle anything that comes your way.

You’re stronger than you know. And remember – you’re amazing.
