How to Avoid Burnout

Avoid Burnout

Last week during one of my Mastermind calls the topic of self care came up. As a group of busy professional and business women, all of us could identify with the challenge of taking care of ourselves.  The expectations we put on ourselves to give not just to our businesses and professions but also to our families and friends can be overwhelming sometimes.

It’s so easy to skip the self care and “push” through. It can seem like you’ll be more productive by pushing, but the truth is you can give more to the world when you take care of yourself.  One of my Mastermind friends said “Self Care = Success”.  That hit home!

When you take care of yourself, not only will you be more successful in your work, you’ll be more creative, more fun, and be able to give more to others unconditionally. Plus, you’ll feel more fulfilled, which is the ultimate success!

I’ve heard some people say that it’s selfish to put ourselves first. There’s nothing selfish about it.  In fact, it’s the most giving thing we can do. We’re no good to the world when we’re burned out, exhausted and stressed out. Our relationships suffer, our health suffers, our businesses suffer and we suffer.

It’s really hard to give unconditionally when we’re at the edge all the time and the tank is on empty! – Tweet It!

I’m not saying it’s easy to do this. It’s taken me years to realize this and it’s still a work in progress. What I know for sure is that when I take time to nurture myself, I’m much happier and ironically more productive.

In this video, I share with you a few simple things I’ve learned to do to minimize the likelihood of burnout. They are simple and don’t take a ton of time…In fact, it only takes a few seconds to de-stress and de-compress. The trick is stopping and doing it!

We’re all a work in progress and in evolution of becoming our best selves. I hope you honour yourself enough to take some time for you so you can truly shine and give your best to the world.

Now, I’d love to hear from you. What are you going to do to take care of yourself this week? Will any of the tips I shared be hard for you to do? Please share with me in the comments below.

Until next time, remember to take a deep breath and a much deserved moment for yourself each day. You deserve to take care of yourself!  And remember, Self Care = Success!
